BOOK NEWS October 2025

While the Auclum book is at the printers, I am in the process of getting the signatures of Peter Boshier-Jones, Chris Cramer, David & Sean Gould and Jerry Sturman. They are all signing numbered book plates that will accompany the slip-cased copies of the book. The non-slip-cased edition will only be signed by me (sorry!)

The slip-case versions are numbered 1 – 100

The ‘standard’ editions are numbered from 101 to 201

If you have yet to place your order on the BHP Publishing website, and you would like to reserve a specific number, there are still a few low numbers available.

If you have paid your deposit, please pay the remaining balance ASAP to ensure that you receive your copy.

Meanwhile, here is a photo of Peter Boshier-Jones signing the book plates earlier this week. Peter was one of the most successful competitors at Great Auclum, setting many FTDs, class and outright hill records. He finished runner-up in the British Hillclimb Championship in 1964 when he was pipped by Peter Westbury and 1965 when Tony Marsh took the title.

At over 400 pages with hundreds of unpublished monochrome and colour photographs, this book will be of interest to motor racing enthusiasts – not just the hillclimbing community. The book covers the sport in Great Britain between the 1930s and 1970s. Many historically significant cars and people competed at Great Auclum or were involved in the Auclum story – such as Colin Chapman, Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss and Roy Salvadori.
