Since copies of my Great Auclum book started to be delivered in December, the overwhelming reaction has been very positive. I have been very pleasantly surprised at the amount of nice feedback I have received – it means so much to me that the book is being read and well received.
John Aston has reviewed the book for the speedreaders.info website – a well respected site for transportation media reviews. You can read John’s views below. The eagle-eyed will spot that John was sent an out of date photo showing the original title of the book which included the word ‘National’…
Printed with great care using the best materials, the book is presented in A4 landscape format and weighs a hefty 2.5 Kg or if you prefer, 5.5 lbs. There are many unseen photos and the page count runs to 414.
It is available in two limited editions: the deluxe version (£150) which is multi signed and has a quality slipcase; the standard edition (£95) is signed by the author only. Both versions include separate bookplates and certificates of authenticity.

Double British Hillclimb Champion Chris Cramer wrote the foreword and contributed a written commentary on driving a racing car up Great Auclum. He also provided details for his ‘pen portrait’.
If you have yet to place your order on the BHP Publishing website, and you would like to reserve a specific number, there are still a few low numbers available.
Meanwhile, here a few photos of the deluxe edition proof copy.

At over 400 pages with hundreds of unpublished monochrome and colour photographs, this book will be of interest to motor racing enthusiasts – not just the hillclimbing community. The book covers the sport in Great Britain between the 1930s and 1970s. Many historically significant cars and people competed at Great Auclum or were involved in the Auclum story – such as Colin Chapman, Bruce McLaren, Stirling Moss and Roy Salvadori.
